By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the pathophysiology of cancer, its treatments and potential side effects
  • Understand how cancer related impairments affect cancer survivors’ function
  • Describe the strengths and weaknesses of the evidence supporting the use of exercise for people with cancer
  • Apply strategies to help improve quality of life for people experiencing functional deficits including the development and implementation of exercise programs for cancer survivors
  • State the indications for the use of physiotherapeutic modalities for people diagnosed with cancer
  • Demonstrate understanding of safety considerations relevant to rehabilitation of people with cancer
  • Relate to the challenges of rehabilitating people with cancer in the community and acute care settings
