Business Principles for the Canadian Physiotherapist

Date: July 8 – Aug 30, 2013

Week 1 and 2: Situational Leadership in Physiotherapy
Objectives:

1.   Understand the Situational Leadership II Model, including the four stages of the skill development process and the supervision styles that best suit each stage.

2.   Identify the supervisory styles that are most and least natural to each participant through seeking and interpreting feedback from both subordinates and superiors.

3.   Learn strategies to address the developmental needs of subordinates that are not performing to expectations.

4.   Understand basic interest based problem solving and how these skills can be utilized in a leadership setting.

5.   Understand the psychology of adapting to change and how to utilize effective communication to better manage change.

 

Week 3:  Organizational Development
Objectives:

1.     Understand the factors that influence employee engagement and how to foster improved engagement.

2.     Understand how interest based decision-making leads to wise agreements.

3.     Explore strategies to improve clinical mentorship in your practice.

 

Week 4: Leading Change and Resiliency during times of Transition
Objectives:

1.     Understand the normal response to change and why employees fear and resist transition.

2.     Explore strategies for improved communication and planning to more successfully lead during times of transition.

3.     Explore the concept of resiliency, how to become more resilient and how to build more resilient employees and organizations.

 

Week 5: Customer Service.
Objectives:

1.   Understand the importance of customer service in building brand loyalty.

2.   Understand how to build a culture of ‘over the top’ customer service.

 

Week 6: Word of Mouth Marketing and Branding
Objectives:

1.     Create customer evangelists through word of mouth marketing (WOMM).

2.   Understand the role of technology in marketing and branding.

 

Week 7: Strategic Planning
Objectives:

1.     Understand why strategic planning is important and can drive success.

2.     Implement a strategic planning process appropriate for each participant’s sphere of influence.

 

Week 8: Metrics and Performance Tracking
Objectives:

1.   Understand the Balanced Scorecard as a strategic planning tool and what Key Performance Indicators drive successful physiotherapy practices.

2.   Understand how to calculate rolling averages to analyze trends in data.

3.   Create a basic scorecard to track key performance indicators.

4.   Explore the concept of ‘Managing by the Numbers’.

 

Cost:
$1,000.00 (+ HST/GST) for PPD Members
$1,100.00 (+ HST/GST) for CPA Members
$1,500.00 (+ HST/GST) for non-CPA Members
