PSD presents: Managing complex and chronic pain in a busy practice: “what can I do in 15 minutes?”

 

DATE & LOCATION:   June 23rd, 2014; Edmonton, AB (following CPA Congress)

INSTRUCTORS:  Timothy H. Wideman PT PhD & Geoff P. Bostick PT PhD

TARGET AUDIENCE:  Non-pain specialist physical therapists with an interest in complex pain.

Duration: 1 day (6.5 contact hours)

What to expect from the course?

  1. There are numerous factors that influence chronic pain.  This course will distill best evidence for chronic pain management into segments that can be integrated into a busy practice.
  2. Participants will understand fundamental principles of chronic pain management.
  3. Participants will learn about assessment strategies to identify complex pain – specifically psychosocial screening, recognizing ‘sensitization’ and activity tolerance.
  4. Participants will learn management strategies related to communication, facilitating self-efficacy, graded activity and exposure, and dealing with flare-ups.
